A relationship with a sociopath starts out spectacularly.  Sociopaths are dazzlingly charming and will work tirelessly to win your love and affection.

Once they accomplish this, they will begin victimizing and using you to get what they want.  Sociopaths treat life like a game.

They manipulate others by being a pathological liar, pretending to be emotional when they have no emotions at all, and has no remorse.

Read on to discover 5 ways a sociopath manipulates.

1. Flattery

A sociopath will use many ways of manipulating and flattery is a good one to start with, especially if you have low self-esteem.

When someone flatters us, we feel really good about ourselves and want to stay in a relationship with someone who makes us feel that way.

The sociopath can sense your need for approval and will use this to get what they want.

2. Sex

Aside from the thrill of dominating other people’s lives, sex is the sociopaths only form of pleasure.  As a result, they tend to have very active sex lives that they use to manipulate others.

Since a sociopath cannot truly feel love, the act of lovemaking is just sexual gratification for them.  It means nothing more than that, so don’t let them fool you into thinking otherwise!

3. Blaming

A sociopath will pick a fight with you, hang up on you and then make you feel as though it was all your fault.

A sociopath knows how to use just the right amount of guilt to make you want to make it up to them.

Again, this is one of the game playing tactics that a sociopath uses to get what they want.

4. Silence

A lengthy, uncomfortable silence is another tool that they use to manipulate.

By the time you’re feeling the discomfort of this awkwardly long, quiet moment, the sociopath has you right where they want you.

5. Pretending

Playing a role or wearing a mask is what a sociopath does on a daily basis.  One of the things that makes a sociopath hard to spot is that they look and act like everyone else.

Acting like a normal person with feelings of love, empathy, kindness and compassion is just that:  an act to manipulate you into believing they are decent people so that they can use you to get what they want.

The really frightening thing about a sociopath is that, until you are in a relationship with them, you don’t know what they are.

The above signs are just a few that sociopaths use to manipulate people.  A relationship with a sociopath will drain you emotionally and often, financially.

While you may not believe you could be in a relationship with a sociopath, millions of people are and don’t even know it until it’s too late.

Protect yourself by educating yourself on the signs you’re in a relationship with a sociopath, and leave the relationship as soon as you can!
