For many years, Native American astrology has been greatly revered for it’s accurate and profound symbolic wisdom. Native American astrological signs are based on a spiritual affinity one would have with their totem. The practice dates back as far as 5000 years.

These zodiac signs are based on something called the Mesoamerican calendar, which intends to draw similarities and useful knowledge from long-held animal myths and fable beliefs.

Native Americans had strong beliefs in the ability of nature and it’s animals to teach life lessons and give spiritual guidance in times of need.

The otter is often thought to be a bit of an oddball. They aren’t always the most efficient, but they do have a unique point of view to offer and tend to be very resourceful.

Innovative and full of imagination, the otter may not always be at the front of the pack, but they have something special and rare, absolute originality.

Wolf (February 19 – March 20)

The wolf can be somewhat of a walking contradiction at times.

While they are probably the most emotional and affectionate of the signs, they also require enough detachment and freedom to go their own way or else they will start to feel trapped.

For the wolf, it’s all about finding a healthy balance between the sentimental side and the wild and free-roaming side.

Falcon (March 21 – April 19)

Falcons are strong, serious and decisive. Because they emit somewhat of a dominant energy, they are often looked to for advice or help in making decisions.

The falcon is a leader, through and through. They are known for taking charge of situations without hesitation, which can sometimes lead to them being seen as arrogant or a little controlling.

Given a chance however, the falcon will prove an excellent and dedicated leader.

Beaver (April 20 – May 20)

Driven by organization and logic, the beaver is all about efficiency.

They are the hardest working of the signs and harbor strong preferences for how they think things should be done.

While the rigidity of this personality can be a little abrasive for some, the beaver is always the best person for the job.

They can seem a little stand off-ish at times, but they simply know what their priorities are. This is why they can achieve any goal set in front of them.

Deer (May 21 – June 20)

The deer is very gregarious and excellent in communication. They are vibrant, friendly and wildly tenacious.

Sometimes the deer can be perceived as somewhat self-absorbed, but anyone who gets to know their authentic and pleasant personality will come to see this isn’t true.

Woodpecker (June 21 – July 21)

The woodpecker is a born nurturer.

The most parental of all the signs, this protective creature is always supportive and ready to catch you when you fall. Like a good parent, this sign is warm and loving but also even-keeled and calm.

They like organization and can become a little possessive or jealous when it comes to friends and loved ones.

Salmon (July 22 – August 21)

The salmon loves a challenge and is always in search of the next adventure. They are powerfully focused and effective self-starters.

They do however, need a good support system of friends surrounding them in order to stay grounded, as they’re prone to egotistic behavior.

Bear (August 22 – September 21)

Down-to-Earth and disciplined, the bear is known for a strong presence and a big, open heart. Bears make particularly good business partners as they’re level-headed and methodical.

Although occasionally a bit of a cynic, the bear is patient and steadfast and will never give up or quit on something without seeing it through to the end.

Raven (September 22 – October 22)

Ravens are eager and enthusiastic about the challenges set forth in their lives. They are born with an entrepreneurial spirit and are always coming up with great ideas.

Although some may find them bossy or demanding, they always have the best interest of the community in mind and will work hard to achieve success for everyone, not just themselves.

Snake (October 23 – November 22)

The snake is a deeply spiritual and cosmically minded sign.

Though they are often misunderstood and sometimes feared by their peers, they have a unique talent for facilitating healing and are essential and valuable members of their communities when allowed to flourish.

Known as a relaxed and easy-going sign, the owl loves to go with the flow and is up for just about anything.

They’re good conversationalists, but also excellent and attentive listeners, making them loved by pretty much anyone they come into contact with.

Sometimes this attentiveness and curiosity in others can make the owl seem a little overbearing or nosy, but it all comes from a place of genuine care and interest.

Goose (December 22 – January 19)

The goose is incredibly driven and with the combination of laser like focus and raw ambition, they’re practically unstoppable when it comes to something they want.

Their drive is so strong that it can become obsessive and unhealthy if left unchecked, so they require a good support network at all times in order to keep that balance of priorities.
