Of course, we all have a chronological age.  It’s the number of years that have passed since we were born.

But, we also have an emotional age.  Your emotional age is determined by how emotionally mature you are.

And, it turns out, our emotions have an influence not only on how we see the world and life in general, but how we see colors.

You’ve all heard the saying, “I feel blue.” meaning the person is feeling down or depressed.  “Everything is rosy.” meaning things are great.

You “see red” when you’re angry.  People equate happiness with the color yellow, serenity with lavender and nature with the color green.

Our emotional maturity can also have an influence on how vividly we can see colors.

In other words, you might see the color yellow as bright while I might see the exact same shade of yellow as more muted.

I’m not talking about someone being color blind, either.  That’s a whole different thing.

What I mean is that the hues and saturation of a color is perceived differently by different people depending on their emotional age.

Interesting, isn’t it?  The quiz below will analyze how you perceive colors, with your answers determining your emotional age.
