There are days like today where I’m so run down I can barely keep my eyes open. So what do I do? Reach for an energy drink? Brew a cup of coffee? Nah. Here’s how I give myself a little energy boost when I’m fatigued.
1. I exercise.
Even just 30 minutes of exercise helps relieve the tiredness that comes from a day seated in front of the computer.
It’s great to get up, take a break, go for a walk, breathe some fresh air, get the blood flowing, and then get back to work nice and refreshed.
2. I take a nap.
Okay, so I take back what I said earlier about coffee. One study showed that people who drank a cup of coffee then went down for a nap were even more rested, and I can attest to this.
It works like a charm every time!
3. I make sure to eat breakfast.
Breakfast really is the most important meal of the day.
Eating breakfast gives you a morning boost, is important for your metabolism, and helps you feel energized well into the day.
4. I meditate.
Meditation is a great energy booster any time of day. It’s perfect for taking a minute to relax, clear your mind, focus on deep breathing, and reinvigorate your spirit.
Even just 10 minutes every day can give you greater mental clarity.
5. I make plans for later.
When you’ve got plans to sit on your backside and watch TV before bed, that’s not really very much to look forward to.
When you have something fun planned for later, it helps keep you invigorated and excited for what’s to come!
6. I take vitamin D and magnesium.
Vitamin D and magnesium are both crucial nutrients to get.
They help turn what you consume into vital energy. I live in a very rainy place, so often I have to take vitamin D as a supplement, but you can get it from sunshine too.
7. I keep it all organized.
A nice, clear, well organized desk seems to help the energy flow better for me.
When my house is clear, I feel like I can accomplish dang near anything. When it’s cluttered, I feel weighed down.
